Slidecasting with Slideshare.net & Slide.com – Half Hour Huddle (Ep.17 – SL20071024)

Episode 17 of this ShermanLive.com podcast showcases the technology and applications of slidecasting. Slidecasting is simply a mash up of slides (or images) and audio (spoken word or music), and this technology can be used to showcase both personal and business presentations very effectively.

In this ‘Half Hour Huddle’ webinar-webcast, I share two free online applications that can be used for slidecasting.

In addition, I created a Halloween slidecast that combines images, text, and music, publishing it to these two web services to compare the results. Screen captures and the slidecast videos are published at ShermanLive.com too.

Thanks John. If you mean the Huddle, then it was a desktop video capture of my entire screen (I think I used iShowU at that time), with a mini window of my 'talking head' in the top right corner of the screen, using Quicktime Pro.

During the Huddle session with my audience, they could see my entire desktop including 'talking head'. This was powered by Glance.net, a desktop sharing service.

These days, I stream my video sessions using Ustream.tv - my channel can be found at ShermanHu.tv

When you say "free audio", do you mean free audio hosting? Or do you mean free audio mp3 music?

If you're looking for free audio mp3 music, you may want to try Internet Archive's Audio.

If you're looking for free audio hosting, then consider Internet Archive's Podcast section (you'll have to register for a free account).

Or consider Podomatic or Google for "free podcast hosts".

Hey Sherman,

Thank you for your wonderful introduction into the crazy world of slidecasting!

I have turned into a slide maniac after seeing this but my only problem at them moment is that I am on an extreme budget (going overseas) and want to find an audio site that offers free audio.

Any ideas on sights that are good to use to get the full benefit of slidecasting?
