Hi Sherman,

I just wanted to say thanks for your feedback and also to personally thank everybody who posted with such vibrant and applicable info.

Thanks Beverly, Dotsie, Amy, Tamara and Travel Guy - cool suggestions and cool websites - all.

This just furthers my belief that Boomers as a cohesive, informed group can change things dramatically for the better. You're all so smart and interesting and dynamic.

But Sherman, this wouldn't be possible without your insight and the platform you are creating for incredible networking and exchange via your blogs...

A thousand thanks Sahib...

Your loyal subject,

Michael

Great advice Sherman. At first the hard part is getting the content produced, but then having overcome that part, it rapidly becomes obvious that getting eyeballs is the hard part.

Too many folks stay focused on the "content is king" strategy, and forget that it's meaningless if no ones looking.

I still have to keep reminding myself it takes 3 parts: content, traffic and conversion.

I would suggest a trip to your local Chapters to peruse the magazine aisles with notebook and pen in hand. I am astounded at how many new titles there are all the time.

Check the masthead for the right person to pitch to (i.e. health editor if it's health-related, finance if it's money related, etc.) and get their contact information. Get in touch to find out how they prefer to be pitched (i.e. e-mail, fax, etc.) and follow suit.

Try to think of different angles to get into magazines that might not suit the topic at first blush i.e. if there's anything travel related, pitch to travel and in-flight mags. If it's about boomer-friendly activities like sailing, pitch to specialty sailing mags.

Research clubs and associations for boomers and get in touch. Some of them may invite you to speak in person, some might ask for information for a newsletter.

Start a boomer facebook group!

I could give a bit more tailored advice if I knew the specific topic of the book, but those are a few.

Hey,
There are many boomer books out there. I know. I wrote, "Distress-Free Aging: A Boomer's Guide to Creating a Fulfilled and Purposeful Life." It takes a lot of marketing. You have to be out there all the time - on the radio, writing on blogs, connecting with other boomers and reviewers, etc. I'd be happy to share my book with you, if you want to review it. Also, I'm available for teleconferencing. Love to connect with Dotsie, too.

@ Dotsie, thanks so much for sharing your feedback and wow, what a resource you offer at NABBW and the Boomer Women Speak sites ;-) I'll be sure to have him jump back in here to check out the wonderful ladies here who have been offering so much great help!

Dotsie, I think it'll be a blast to connect with you over the phone (via audio conferencing) and chat about your organizations, the value you add to your community, and how authors, marketers, and companies can 'get a clue' if they don't, and how to effectively and respectfully engage the members of the Baby Boomer gen! What do you say - shall we?

@ Beverly, thanks for sharing your feedback, and what a gem you are to offer your takeways from the conference with my friend! I'll let him know.

Come to think of it, if you're open to it, we could have an audio conference - you and I, even with my friend - and help to give my audience an awareness of the finer points of the Baby Boomer generation and related Boomer marketing strategies?
