@Jeff, thanks! Write stuff down. Finish item #1 before moving on to next item ;-)

Podcasting and Video is going to be sexier because we're doing it, with wigs or not - "Yeah, baby!" [Austin Powers voice]

One more question - how do I get my askHowie.com blog feed onto my myspace page?

(blog comment = free consulting) - I love Web 2.0!

Sherman,

Great stuff as always. Thanks for the direction to head. I think one of my problems is I must have adult onset ADD (not to make light of people who really have that condition). I just seem to lack focus. But now I have a better idea of a direction to go in.

Hey is podcasting and video going to be sexier in 2008 because you're gonna wear that wig from the Ed Dale video, very hot ;).

Thanks, Sherman! I now have the photo up and an account on Utterz.com.

I see I've gotten 37 listens on my first day - how cool! I'm curious how folks have found it - through my tags, or just randomly searching on Utterz?

In case you want to listen, it's at http://www.utterz.com/~u-NDk4ODk4MA/utt.php

Man, when am I going to stop having to learn new tricks? :)

Hey Howie, thanks for swinging by and adding your feedback, appreciate ya! Now, that shows us the power of engaging multiple senses, huh? ;-)

All these new web tools are popping up like popcorn and I'm having a blast testing them out and sharing my discoveries with my readers. You've gotta check out www.Utterz.com as its a killer app for MoBlogging and their responsive support is incredible! (Thanks Randy and Rob!)

RE: Graphic - Sure thing buddy. <a href="http://www.shermanlive.com/images/blogposts/howiejacobson.png" rel="nofollow">Download it here</a>

Interestingly enough, I don't get those kind of FB requests ;-) Those kind seem to popup daily at MySpace, but not on FB for me. Whew ;-)

RE: Direction - "If I'm all dressed up and nowhere to go" this is what I would do.

1. Make your blog the hub where all the content resides.

2. Use your blog feed and extend it to the specific social networks that matter (and where your audience is),

eg. extend your blog feed into Facebook, so that when you post a blog entry, it automatically gets published into Facebook. Consider the "FlogBlog" and "Notes" applications and discover how to add your blog feed to them.

3. Push your article readers from article directories to your blog, encouraging them to subscribe to your feed or opt-in to your newsletter. Hopefully you are using services like Feedburner, Feedblitz or Aweber where your subscribers get notified by email automatically when you post to your blog - saves you time.

I tend to do less email broadcasts, and more blog updates now. Occasionally I'll broadcast to let folks know there are a ton of new blog updates, and to get them to opt-in to get the latest news as they are published.

4. Paid Material for subscribers is always kept in the 'vault'. However, it doesn't mean you can't tease your non-paying readers, with a snippet or case study of what you're revealing 'backstage'.

5. Last but not least, get a move on podcasting and video. It's very NOW. It'll be even sexier in 2008.

Cheers buddy!

Hey Sherman, thanks for taking the time to answer my question in such detail! It was even more helpful to listen than to read...

Every time I catch up with what you're doing, I discover another dizzying array of tools and strategies - Utterz.com, never heard of it until today. Whew...

I love the graphic you made of me and the book - any chance you could send it to me as a jpeg?

And now that you've publicly challenged me to participate on Facebook (and not just delete friends requests from women with exotic names who "find me attractive" even though I don't even have a photo on the site), we'll see what value I can add to the Internet Beginner's community.

I'm still working out where to go with all my newly created material - my blog, article directories, emails to my list, paid material for subscribers, etc. It's easy to spread myself too thinly and end up with a little bit for everyone and not enough for anyone...

Cheers,
Howie

Great post Sherman - saw it on Utterz and popped over to enjoy. With Facebook having grown from 9M in Sept 06 to almost 50M members in Sept 07 - a lot of people are asking this same question
