How To Add A Writer To Your Blog

After you’ve accomplished the task of hiring or outsourcing an assistant or writer to contribute to your blog, how do you afford access to this new team member without giving him/her the "keys to your kingdom"? And how do you ensure that this new writer has all the capabilities to make their job easy to publish new content but control their access to certain parts of your blog?
This 3 step tutorial will show you step by step how to achieve a win-win situation with Role Management using a Wordpress blog and the Semiologic Pro theme. The Semiologic Pro theme includes the Role Manager plugin. If you don’t have either, simply visit the Role Manager plugin site by Thomas S. and upload it to your blog’s plugin folder on your host account.
First, login to your blog’s Dashboard. Now you can follow along with the tutorial below.
Step 1: Activate your "Role Manager" plugin
Click the "Plugins" tab to view your plugins. Scroll down to "Role Manager" and click the "Activate" link.
View Your Roles Options Page
Click [Users] tab > [Roles] sub-tab
Step 2: Modify Role Capabilities
On this page, you’ll see a selection of "Roles" and "Capabilities" that have been checked and unchecked. Whether your assistant is going to be designated "Author" or "Contributor", you’ll have total control over what they can or can’t do by modifying the Role’s Capabilities you’re going to assign them.
When you’re satisifed with the capabilities you’re sharing with your new writer, let’s move on to adding them as a new user.
Visit "Authors & Users" Tab
Time to add your assistant as a new user on your blog.
Click [Users] tab > [Authors & Users] sub-tab.
Step 3: Add Your Assistant As A New User
Simply fill out all the fields, including his/her role, click "Add User" button and he/she will receive an email with the details on how to login.
In closing, this 3 step tutorial has revealed to you how to give access to your new team member to publish new content while providing you control of their restricted access to your blog.
