Thanks for telling us about this Sherman.

I tried "live" videocasting before but it just seemed a bit too complicated. I want to "broadcast" interviews for our business site, interviewing industry figures and Wetoku looks like it is just the ticket.

Your website is full of great tips and recommendations, especially for small business owners like myself.

Thanks again.

Hi,

Your tutorial is better than MailChimp's support!

Can you do one on how to change the width of the widget so it will fit in a Thesis sidebar? Mine is two wide and spans both sidebars.

Thanks,
Debbie

You are a life saver. I just signed up for their service last month. I checked it out a few years ago and never signed up. I always heared about aweber and constant contact to name a few. I was ready to $20 a month or more for an auto responder. When I discovered that mailchimp was free up to 500 email names I jump right on it. Today I’m taking time to learn how to attach mailchimp forms to my websites. I have my own forms but I couldn't for some reason find out on mailchimp's site how to set up a form for my sites. I saw the auto responder one which was easy to follow. Thanks so much for posting this. I'm bookmarking it and printing this page.

This is a great guide; however, whenever I try to connect Hootsuite to my business Facebook page, it doesn't work. I will let me do it with my personal page...do you know how to get around that? I'm have the same problem getting my business FB page to connect with Twitter. Any idea what's up?

A job well done over at Windrumors!

I too feel that The Shack was a breath of fresh air for those who find the church's traditional emphasis of the anger, judgement and remoteness in the Father's character has stifled any real affection or love for Him. The Shack opens up some new vistas in regard to God's grace, love and desire to really engage with us at a meaningful level.

My reading group has recently combined The Shack with Forgiving Ararat by Gita Nazareth and The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold, in raising an intellectual debate about religion. Thought you may find it to your liking.

You are welcome, Kit. Have you tried just using the widget title OR the MailChimp title, but not both? I would lean towards the widget title only :-)

Thanks for the great tutorial. I'm trying to make it work on my blog but the space between the wordpress (thesis) widget label (e.g. Passion News) and the MailChimp label (e.g. Get Your Passion News) is too big and I don't know how to fix it. I removed it from my blog because I need to fix it first...any help would be much appreciated!

Hi Paul, thanks for sharing your thoughts! Yes, Agassi really focused on his conditioning and returned several times with vengeance. And in all areas of life, be it sports or business or any other platform, its the unsexy preparation that matters, the stuff people don't see.

I believe your situation calls for the same mental and attitude fortitude Agassi executed for his game. Keep the 'ball' moving, focus on your strengths, outsource the rest. Either learn the technical stuff, oftentimes not the most productive use of our time, or pass it on to the outsourced practitioners.

I overcame my perfection through 'pain'. Has always worked better for me than 'pleasure'. I envision how much 'pain' the 'perfectionism' in whatever I'm working on is preventing or road-blocking me to my destination/objectives/success/ROI/profits/pain I'm causing myself or family etc etc... then I knock it out with vengeance ;-)

It's a mental game. A journey. That's why what Brad Gilbert shared in 'Open' spoke to me so deeply. It's not about hitting winners every time, just keep the ball moving.

I have Oscar W's "Play Better Tennis In 2 Hours" book!! It's brilliant! Have to get my hands on his training videos :-)

Thanks Paul! ROCK ON!!

Hi Paul, thanks for sharing your thoughts! Yes, Agassi really focused on his conditioning and returned several times with vengeance. And in all areas of life, be it sports or business or any other platform, its the unsexy preparation that matters, the stuff people don’t see.

I believe your situation calls for the same mental and attitude fortitude Agassi executed for his game. Keep the ‘ball’ moving, focus on your strengths, outsource the rest. Either learn the technical stuff, oftentimes not the most productive use of our time, or pass it on to the outsourced practitioners.

I overcame my perfection through ‘pain’. Has always worked better for me than ‘pleasure’. I envision how much ‘pain’ the ‘perfectionism’ in whatever I’m working on is preventing or road-blocking me to my destination/objectives/success/ROI/profits/pain I’m causing myself or family etc etc… then I knock it out with vengeance

Sherman - great write up - the exact same thing happened to me on a flight from Atlanta to Las Vegas. I had recently become a Christian - so the experience was a little different for me than it would've been 3 months earlier. A little more peace with the real possibility of meet my maker.

Hey Sherman,

Met you briefly at Stomper F5 last year in Atlanta.

Liked the Agassi review and application.

All this web/blog stuff is new to me, unlike tennis which I've loved and played since I was 12. Always found that Agassi's comeback also teaches us a lesson: he just focused on conditioning. The day to day, off the TV, discipline.

Also liked how Agassi created high purpose for himself and tennis earnings (eg work with kids and foundation.) Was willing to change himself and change his mental game and attitude.

Not sure how to change mine when it comes to being stopped by technical stuff in front of getting content out. How did you overcome your blocks/perfectionism)?

In tennis, there's a great virtual coach who played pro and studied Agassi and others natural grace. Tip for you: check out Oscar Wegner!

I think it also has to do with trusting that you are indeed on your true path and that it should never perfect. If it were you'd not be able to truly enjoy the daily Moments of Zen that occur when just being and experiencing it.

The gratification that comes with accomplishment cannot exist without the trials of the lesson.

Hey Leesa, I know, right? I can still use Silverfox as my alias ;-)

When Rhonda and I were going through the bleaching process, it just worked out to be a beautiful white tone. So with a silvery toning, it turned out to be super white ;-) In fact, this is what I wanted originally. Really diggin' it now ;-)

And yes, U can still call me Silver Fox ;-)

Hey Sherman, here's my story regarding my wife and how she used to state that things need to be done perfectly, and how she is unhappy if things are not done perfectly. You know, if she forgot somethingthing here, a missed something there. I said, and she gets it now... "The IDEA that things CAN be perfect all the time is itself imperfect thinking." Because humans are fundamentally prone to make the occasional mistake, at its core the pursuit of perfection is imperfect. It's a bad place to be starting from.

Great question. I've grown & evolved whereby certain areas or disciplines come easier to me, so there's very little procrastination or perfection hangups in those areas. It doesn't excuse my clients to hang on to their perfection hangups, regardless :)

But there are certain areas in my business, including mindset, that I find myself delaying action, or justifying or making things more complicated than necessary. This is what I'm changing.

Thanks for your feedback, T! Rock on!

I would never have guessed that you were focused as a perfectionist. Your message to me has always been to "just do it" (something the Tiger should not have listened to) and to keep getting things done. So is it a do as I say and not as I do syndrome? Or do you need to follow your own advice to use newbies (after 2 years I guess I can no longer claim that status)?

Thanks for sharing this excerpt for Agassi's book. I probably would not have gotten it to read my self.

Hey Sherman dude, this is an awesome pick...

I too was getting fed up paying a fortune to istockphoto, but I never heard of morgue file, and the crop and embed functionality is way cool!

By the way, what happened to the half-hour-huddle, it was inspiring. Is it still going on?

Cheers

Sherman.... this is interesting. I did a bunch of research into this after a HD failed on me. I wrote this post and had "dornquast" from Crashplan respond. What he responded to is almost opposite to what they show in your screenshots.

After this post, I made my decision to switch to Carbonite and love them so far. I meant to update that post to say, " why choose Crash Plan when Carbonite is actually unlimited with no hidden gimmicks." Besides, their name Crash Plan just bleeds the idea that you will crash your computer someday! Interested to see where this goes.

Hi Sherman

Thank you for this insightful tutorial. I have an account at istockphoto.com, I go there to get all the images I need for my sites. I've never heard of morguefile before but I will definitely got there first now, it will save me a ton of money.

Kerch, thanks for your feedback. Great point. Typically, I download from image sites, then upload to my own blog. In MorgueFile's case, I download after cropping ;-)

I have used and loved morguefile for a couple of years. A recent redesign musta moved a lot of stuff , 'cause I lost MANY images in several blogs I manage. In addition, seems like the library is significatly smaller.
The crop and size functions work great on the site. AND I recommend at the very least, after you crop the photo, open the image URL.then save that image to upload. The download and uploads are smaller and faster

01. Hootsuite is SAAS (Software As A Service). Because its web-based, I can use it anywhere, with or without my own laptop.

02. Hootsuite offers pre-scheduling, multiple accounts and team-based workflow and Tweetdeck doesn't.

03. Tweetdeck seems to max out my Twitter API often. I've never had that issue with Hootsuite or other desktop apps.

Those are some of the reasons why ;-)

Very good point, John. Downloading the images (for 'keepsake') is definitely a wise alternative if one is concerned about the services' longevity ;-)

I Love it! Never heard of Morguefile before. Great find. The only Caveat to using their crop and embed link is that if they one day go Buy Buy... so do your images.... otherwise... WAY COOL DUDE!

Hey Sherman -

Thanks Sherman. So, why did you choose Hootsuite as against, say, Tweetdeck?

Dearest All
I have not yet read The Shack although been introduced this via a colleague I wait with bated breadth for it to arrive. I am a very spiritual person and my life is enriched in my heart with the love I have for Jesus and God. I am a Catholic but would just like to say I am not ignorant of others faith, here is why. For many years I have prayed endlessly to God for him to assist my marriage, to guide my husband to him. I loved my husband so much that all I wanted for him was to be a true person, to love himself, then others. If he respected himself then he could respect others as God wants. Anyway I found out my husband had an affair my heart broke- my world was torn apart. How could this happen to me I do not deserve this- for some time I have struggled with forgiveness. My husband also a Catholic struggled with his feelings and had lost his faith.
For seven years I have had a lovely man at my door he is a Jehovah's Witneess. I have been very wary because it was drummed into me as a child and a Catholic do not let them in. Anyway to cut a long story short- this man stopped at my door to give me a copy of the Watchtower- as usual I was polite and none ignorant. My husband came out and began a conversation with him- that was the day he met God. A few weeks have passed and there is no promise of my husband becoming ever a JW. But this man sits and chats and discusses the family and importance of being a better person- he has calmed down, stopped smoking has become the person I wanted him to be for himself. He takes time to listen, is thoughtful. Therefore God comes in different guises and religions, if you believe in Jesus and GOD then believe someday, somehow he will come and maybe not in the way you thought he would. That mans persistence knocking at my door prevailed after 7 years- I am being honest from my heart- my home is now a garden finding bloom- each day I am being given a bouquet of happiness xxx Love Peg xxx

I haven't tested it LIVE with a viewing audience. I'm confident when U launch your interview, you could announce to your audience - there and then - I don't believe you will have that URL early enough to email your list. Unless...

You create your show the day before, keep the URL and page up. Announce to your list and guest. And when your guest appears, your audience can see it LIVE ?? Maybe, try it and let me know how that works ;-)

Updated 11/16/09 7pm PST: Response from David Lee (Wetoku.com) reveals its meant for pre-recording purposes only.
